Bastakiya is one of the oldest residential areas in Dubai. The architecture dates back into 1890. and rich with its architectural elements such as wind towers, air pullers, columns and urban values. The Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding home is situated in the Bastikiya area of Bur Dubai, in a beautiful restored windtower house. The traditional house was once the home of an Emirates family. Currently the area is under restoration and is a unique insight to lifestyle of the Emirates peoples past.
